Core Convictions: Why We Do What We Do

Most of us know what happens on a Sunday morning at Sun Valley. Fewer of us have been told why. Why this kind of preaching. Why these songs. Why we practice membership, and baptism, and small groups the way we do.

Beginning September 6, (8:30-9:30 am) your elders will walk through who the church is, what she exists to do, and why we practice what we practice. Many of these topics came directly out of conversations with people in our church. They are the questions you are already asking.

The first several weeks work through the last words Christ gave His church in Matthew 28. Who the church is, the one mission He assigned her, how she carries it out, how she measures whether she is doing it, and what all of it is finally for. These build on each other. After that, each Sunday takes up one practice on its own. A schedule of topics will be posted soon so that you know what is coming up.

Our aim is that you would not just know what we do, but understand why, and share our conviction that this is Christ's church, and her one work is making disciples.
