Worthy Evangelism (Colossians 4:5-6)

This sermon from Colossians 4:5–6 teaches that walking worthy of the Lord necessarily includes wise, intentional evangelism expressed through both actions and words: believers are called to live lives that please God, bear spiritual fruit, and grow in knowing Him, which naturally results in a heart for the lost and a desire to share the gospel. Paul urges Christians to act wisely toward “outsiders” by understanding them, praying for them, loving them genuinely, redeeming every opportunity God provides, and living in a distinct, Christlike way that prompts questions. At the same time, believers must speak wisely, using words that are gracious, attractive, clear, and informed—avoiding harshness, argumentativeness, and Christian jargon—while relying on the Holy Spirit to convince and convict hearts, remaining prepared to give thoughtful, gentle answers for the hope found in Jesus Christ.
