The Promised Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13-14)

This sermon explains Ephesians 1:13–14 by showing that “the promised Holy Spirit” is the fulfillment of God’s Old Testament promises and Christ’s own promise to give His people the indwelling presence of God. It argues that the Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force but a divine person with intellect, will, and emotion, fully God and active in the believer’s salvation from beginning to end. Because the Spirit seals believers, guarantees their inheritance, regenerates, indwells, empowers, teaches, sanctifies, gifts, unites, and secures them, Christians must move beyond merely knowing doctrine about Him and instead depend on Him for joyful assurance, Christlike growth, love for the church, and lives that magnify Jesus.
